So You Need Help with Marketing and/or Business Development?

You must do or you wouldn’t have arrived here. Now would you?

And you would probably understand, or at least suspect, that good marketing is the key to business success. And maybe you’re not doing as well as you’d like?

Peter Drucker was credited as saying that business is easy; there are only three things you have to do:

  1. spend the money
  2. count the money
  3. make the money

Most businesses have no trouble with spending the money (can be called investing) and everyone knows you have to count the money (at least because you have to give the tax man and the bank manager a story).

But the thing many businesses have trouble with is MAKING the money. And THAT’s what Marketing is all about. Right?

Whether you’re part of a multi-national mega corporation or a one-man band, the principles of marketing are the same. You need to find a customer and then convince them to part with their money in exchange for something of value to them. This is the fundamental principle of value exchange and if done well, both parties are happy with the outcome and you have created the basis for an on-going relationship. Simple!

Should be, but is often neglected, avoided, done poorly or not at all – hoping things will just happen, the product will sell itself. Is this you? Very common among SMEs. But you can become very uncommon, by taking action. NOW!

Or maybe you’re part of a sophisticated operation and need access to new ideas, modern thinking, a fresh approach or an extra pair of hands.

Whichever category you fall into, you’ve probably come to the right place. Why probably? Well to be honest it’s unrealistic (and you wouldn’t believe it) if I told you we can do everything for anyone. We can’t, but we can do a great deal – either direct or with a little help from our friends.

And we’ll be honest upfront and tell you if we’re not the right answer for you. But we might be able to point you in the direction of someone who can. Fair enough?

But the best bit is yet to come. We’re VERY different consultants. We put our money where our mouth is and propose a payment mechanism which charges a low engagement fee, and is mostly rewarded only if you are – through success. But there is a catch! Not everyone is suited to this approach; you will need to partner with us to achieve a pre-agreed outcome (i.e. don’t expect to put us in a corner to contemplate our collective navel then come up with the “Eureka moment”). So as a broad indication, our clients must satisfy three criteria:

  1. you must recognise you have a problem
  2. you must be committed to fixing the problem
  3. you must have some funds available to invest in the solution
